I got interested in health and fitness not long after I fell down the first time playing hockey. That was when I figured out I really should learn to skate.
The other kids were a lot bigger than me so I decided I was going to try and get bigger and stronger too. My doctor told me at the time there wasn’t much I could do about my size. I’d have to wait until it was my time to grow. I thought that sucked.
So I started to learn about exercising. I learned you could get big like Lou Ferrigno (the original Incredible Hulk) by lifting weights. Exercises like push ups could make you stronger. I started doing some of those.
Jumping rope could make you more agile, improve your cardio and build your endurance. I saw the great boxer Muhammad Ali jump rope while training so I started to do that too. I didn’t take up boxing though because I didn’t want to fall down anymore.
The years went by. I graduated from school. I got a job, got married and had a beautiful family. I did my best to stick to a healthy exercise routine. I try to eat right but could still do better with that.
I discovered there was a ton of information out there about health and fitness. Often it was complicated. It seemed so much more convoluted than it had to be.
So I set out to discover some easy-to-understand, straight forward ideas related to health and fitness that would work for me and deliver the results I was looking for.
Eventually I learned a bunch of simple tips and techniques that made a huge difference. Finally, I was starting to hit my fitness goals.
Sometimes my friends and colleagues would ask “Hey, what do you do to stay healthy and in shape?” So I decided to start throwing this blog together.
I am by no means a professional. I just always really enjoyed fitness and athletic pursuits. It helped me in other areas of my life.
I hope that by reading this you’ll get closer to achieving some of your fitness goals and make your day to day routine a little easier.
